One Songwriting Tip...

Even if you’re a versatile songwriter, your unique voice always shine through. The key is learning how to develop and refine it. In this article, Andrea Stolpe, professor at USC Thornton School of Music and Berklee Online, breaks down her own writing patterns and creative process. Give it a read, then listen back to your recent songs to see if you can spot any recurring themes or habits in your own work.

One Music Production Idea...

Looking for inspiration? Music exists in every part of your day. The click of your keyboard, the grind of your pepper mill, or the sound of your fridge door can all become the foundation of a beat. Turning ordinary moments into music not only shows your creativity but gives fans a peek into your world in the most authentic way possible.

Try it out: Record five sounds you hear every day, such as your phone unlocking, a spoon stirring coffee, your pepper grinder, your door closing, or your computer keys. Import them into your DAW and shape them into a rhythm or loop. Add a chordal instrument like a piano or guitar to bring it together. Then write a short hook and record yourself singing over it. Film the process, from collecting the sounds to performing the final version, so your audience can see the story behind it!
